Dr. Michael Adams has serviced Saint Charles County Missouri as a family physician since 1981. His training was obtained in some of the most highly respected hospitals in the St Louis area. He has trained at Saint John’s Mercy Medical Center, Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, and Normandy Osteopathic Hospitals in North and South County. He has been on the medical staff of Barnes-Jewish-Christian Hospital in Saint Peters since the opening of his practice.
Dr. Adams is happily married to his office manager, Diann. They have 7 wonderful sons and are very active in a Christian ministry to lower-income families in Saint Charles County.
Osteopathic Physicians
Dr. Adams and his associate, Dr. Houchin, are Osteopathic physicians and have the initials DO (Doctor of Osteopathy) behind their names. Although MDs and DOs are similarly trained in complete traditional medical care, a DO is also highly trained in joint manipulation, much like a chiropractor. Though this form of treatment often offers immediate help to pain and suffering, it is just one more modality they have to choose from to better serve their patients.
Special Interests
Dr. Adams has also been trained in a medical treatment called Prolotherapy. It is a form of therapy that is specifically directed to patients suffering from chronic pain, especially that which arises from injury. Since 1990, Dr. Adams has daily used Prolotherapy to treat patients with issues of plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, whiplash and back pain, arthritic knee pain, and many other painful problems that interfere with the normal activities of daily living. You can read more about this treatment option by going to the drop-down tab labeled Prolotherapy.
Dr. Adams also has a special interest in helping people deal with the many forms of emotional and chemical imbalances, depression, and anxiety that plague so many people today. He is very insightful in getting to the root problem and has many counselors that refer patients to him for his compassionate and knowledgeable care.
